Economic Improvement Sees Downturn In Sports Participation
45% of adults in Ireland participate regularly in sport- according to the findings of the sixth Irish Sports Monitor report.
The Sport Ireland report, released today, takes in the year between April 2015 and April 2016.
It has found a 2% drop in adults who participate in sport, with 1.6 million people taking part in sporting activity.
Personal exercise is the most popular activity (13.7%) with running (8.2%), swimming (8%), cycling (5.5%) and soccer (4.8%) the next most popular.
There are big positives in the report, with the gender divide narrowing.
