Gardai Believe Seizure Of Gun Will Save Lives
Gardai say lives have been saved following the seizure of a submachine gun in Castleknock.
400 thousand euro worth of cocaine was also found during the planned raid which it’s believed is linked to the Kinahan cartel.
Since last September 10 murders have been linked to the onging Hutch/Kinahan feud. The latest shooting claimed the life of innocent dad Trevor O’Neill who was gunned down in Majorca by mistake.
Gardai have now made a major breakthrough in their investigations into the ongoing feud with the seizure of this submachine gun in Castlekock.
Detective Superintendent Tony Howard from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau says the gun is extremely dangerous. "I would describe it as an indiscriminate weapon. It has a fire high rate of fire, it can actually fire several hundred rounds of ammunition a minute".
Gardai are now investigating if this weapon was fired recently. Detective Superintendent Tony Howard believes lives have been saved after it was discovered.
"There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the seizure of this type of weapon has the potential to save lives in the current upsurge of serious crime here in Dublin".
€400,000 worth of cocaine and ammunition was also seized during the raid. A man in his 30s is being questioned at Blanchardstown Garda Station.
