"Bernard Brogan Should Be In Dublin Team"- Charlie Redmond
Dublin legend Charlie Redmond feels Bernard Brogan should be a starter in the Dublin team.
The Boys in Blue are hoping for a 7th successive Leinster crown this summer- and they face Westmeath this afternoon in the Leinster semi final.
Jim Gavin has named his team for the game, with one change as Paddy Andrews comes in at centre half forward to replace the suspended Diarmuid Connolly.
There is no room for Bernard Brogan in the starting line up, but Dublin legend Redmond feels he should be playing.
He was speaking to ‘Now That’s What I Call Sport’s Jamie Moore earlier today:
“To me at this present moment in time the best forward we’ve ever produced has been Bernard Brogan.”
“He’ll be chomping at the bit to get onto that field and if he gets onto that field I will see a revitalised Bernard Brogan”
He mentioned how the defensive team set up’s against Dublin over the past few years has changed how he plays.
“Yeah, the role of the full-forward has changed a lot in the last two or three years, the days when I started where it was man-on-man you'd kick the ball in and I'd take you on and we'll see who comes out on top those days are gone.
“There is no space in there. Every time you get a ball, if you beat one man another man comes at you and another man. So you have to break the gainline, you have to change the angle of your runs; you have your cuts through the middle.”
