Prejudice Against Renters On Welfare Tops Equality Complaints
Discrimination against renters who claim social welfare was the biggest issue for equality chiefs last year.
Ireland's official human rights body also received complaints about racism and disability issues.
Most people contacting the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission in 2016 were getting in touch about discrimination in the rental market.
That's despite new laws last year which bans landlords from refusing tenants on the grounds they're claiming rent allowance.
The commission received almost 370 queries about equality in the workplace, particularly when it came to disability issues.
It also helped give legal assistance to a refugee family who couldn't access social housing in another local authority area after harassment and racism forced from their home.
