Plans For Poolbeg West Under The Spotlight
Plans for a new town in Dublin with 3,500 homes for young families are under the spotlight this evening.
The suburb called Poolbeg West will include shops, cafes, a hotel, and supermarkets. It’s also set to provide 7 thousand jobs.
The majority of properties in the area are set to be two beds with the remainder made up of studios, one and three bed properties. A boulevard will link Sean Moore Road down to the canal.
A special meeting of Dublin City Council is being held this evening to discuss the plans.
The biggest debate is set to be what percentage of the new properties should be dedicated to social housing units.
Only 10% of the 3,500 homes were meant to be dedicated to social housing in the draft plans but some councillors believe this should be increased given the current homeless crisis.
