Wife Says She Forgives Husband For Killing Her Son
Audrey Fitzpatrick says she forgives her husband David Mahon for killing her son but will never forget.
The 45 year old of Ongar Village was found guilty of the manslaughter of 23 year old Dean Fitzpatrick earlier this month.
Dean Fitzpatrick was described in court as a man with underlying problems but a man with a heart of gold and a cheeky grin. The 23 year old died three years ago from a single stab wound after a row with his step dad David Mahon over a water bottle.
David Mahon admitted to stabbing him but claimed it was an accident - the jury found him guilty of manslaughter. At the sentencing hearing this afternoon – David Mahon’s wife and Dean’s mum Audrey Fitzpatrick said her life has been a living nightmare.
She has now lost both her children after her daughter Amy went missing in 2008 in Spain and fears she won’t cope without her husband. She said David Mahon has lost everything as well and has done everything in his power to find Amy.
In his victim impact statement Dean’s biological dad Christopher said it was very hard for him to read articles about the man who took his son’s life going on holidays to Spain. He said no words could describe his pain, anger and despair.
While Dean’s former girlfriend said their young son is now only becoming aware that daddy is never coming home.
The Judge will hand down her sentence on the 13th of June.
