1000 Dublin Streets Exempt From New Wheelie Bin Rule
People living on a thousand Dublin streets won’t have to change the way their rubbish is collected.
They’ll be exempt from new rules coming into force on July 1st, which requires all homes to have a wheelie bin.
In just over a month’s time, the system used to collect the rubbish we throw out will change. Instead of paying a standard charge every time the black bin is lifted, we’ll have to pay by how much it weighs.
Over 11 hundred Dublin streets don’t use a bin for their rubbish, instead they put it out using refuse bags which are tagged.
The majority of them will be exempt from these new rules, while around 100 roads will have to change from using bags to bins.
A City Council committee will continue to look into other ways of storing waste here in the city including underground collection systems.
