Ireland's Paralympic Athletes Receive Rapturous Welcome At Dublin Airport
There were scenes of joy and pride as Ireland’s Paralympic heroes arrived home on Wednesday.
A packed crowd of family, friends and well wishers gathered to greet the athletes who represented Ireland with honour at the Rio games.
They reception was rapturous as the team arrived through the doors of the arrival’s hall to the assembled crowd of fans.
Dublin airport was a sea of balloons and banners as the large crowd helped create an atmosphere of appreciation with chants of Óle, Óle, Óle permeating long before the athletes even arrived.
Team Ireland came home from Rio with four gold, four silver, and three bronze. The haul exceeded all expectations.
They finished the game inside the top 30 in the medal table, in 28th position.
