Ian Madigan Admits Leinster Departure A Possibility
Ian Madigan has admitted he would be open to a move away from Leinster.
The Ireland out-half has been linked with a move to English Championship side Bristol this week.
He appeared to rule that out, however, saying he “certainly wouldn’t be looking to play in the Championship”.
He insisted “if you did decide to move to a club like Bristol, you’re taking a massive risk in them not getting promoted”.
However he has admitted a club like Harlequins could interest him.
“The appeal of a club like Harlequins is that they are a club that looks to win The Premiership every year”.
“They’re not just there to make up the numbers or to qualify for Europe.
And he also admitted he would be “naive” to rule out a move to any of the three other Irish provinces.
Munster is seen as his most likely destination, and he said he would be open to a move within Ireland.
“I think you’d be naive to rule it out”.
“The IRFU probably want to keep as many players in Ireland as possible.
“If you are within Ireland you are giving yourself the best possible chance to be picked for the national team.
