Gun Found In Car Close To The Monk's Clontarf Home
Two men in their twenties are being questioned after a fully loaded gun was found in North Dublin.
The pair were arrested close to the home of Gerry ‘the Monk’ Hutch, who’s not thought to be in the country at the moment.
At around five yesterday evening, gardai from the Emergency Response Unit stopped and searched a car on the Howth road in Killester.
A fully loaded gun was found inside - and two men, aged 25 and 28 were arrested.
They are understood to have links with the Kinahan crime cartel and gardai believe the intended target was a member of the Hutch gang.
The location of the arrests is a short distance from the home of Gerry the Monk Hutch in Clontarf but it’s believed he is overseas.
The Hutch/Kinahan feud, which started with the murder of Gary Hutch in Spain - has claimed up to 18 lives.
The two men are being held at a station in North Dublin and can be detained for up to 3 days.
Commenting on the arrests, Assistant Commissioner John O’Driscoll says gardai are determined to identify every member of organised crime groups who are a threat to the lives of others and to target them for arrest and prosecution.
