'Dogs At Polling Stations' Trends As People Vote In Abortion Referendum
Irish people are taking to the polls today to vote the historic referendum on abortion.
Voters are being asked if they want to repeal the 8th amendment, which gives women and the unborn an equal right to life. Polling stations are open until 10pm.
Thousands of Irish people living abroad have travelled home to have their say. The hashtag #HomeToVote has been trending on Twitter and Instagram.
Another hashtag that is gaining attention is #DogsAtPollingStations. People have been sharing pictures of their democracy loving dogs.
