Community In "Sheer Devastation" Over Hartstown Road Death
A Dublin Councillor says action needs to be taken to prevent further tragedies on our roads.
In the past 24 hours, two lives have been lost in separate incidents.
A young male pedestrian lost his life after he was struck by a car on the R139 in Coolock.
While on the Hartstown Road last night, a man in his twenties died when he collided with another motorcyclist.
Councillor Paul Donnelly has described the local communities reaction as "sheer devastation". Donnelly went on to say "The community certainly want to see something happen, and they want to see something happen now"
"In terms of what we need to do now, we have been fighting for a very long time for speed measures along the road. We're hoping this will be the impetus for a new look at what they're proposing to put in place. I've been on to the Fingal County Council CEO Paul Reid and Inspector Tony Toomy to call a meeting for this Thursday in Fingal County Council. It's not something we can wait any longer for."
