Three Irish Sides In Europa League Action Tonight
All three Irish teams are scattered across the continent tonight with flights heading to Iceland, Estonia and Denmark.
Shamrock Rovers are in Iceland this evening for the first leg of their Europa League qualifying tie against UMF Stjarnan.
Stephen Bradley and his Rovers side take on the Icelandic league's third place team who, in their last five matches have lost three, drew one and won their last outing 3-1 against Fjolnir.
Rovers are fourth in the SSE Airtricity League, 22 points behind leaders Cork City who are in European action tonight, 3200km away from home.
FC Levadia Tallinn host Cork in the Kadriorg Stadium in the capital of Estonia and have the furthest distance to travel out of the three Irish clubs.
John Caulfield and his side travel as table toppers here at home but could be tested by Tallinn who sit second in a very competitive Estonian league.
Finally, the Candystripes are in Denmark against FC Midtjylland who are no strangers to the Europa League.
Derry City will be tested more than ever before tonight against a side who in the 2015-2016 season beat Southampton to qualify for the Europa League before facing Europa Leauge regulars Club Brugges, Legia Warsaw and Napoli.
Ultimately they were knocked out of the competition by Louis Van Gaal's Manchester United, despite beating the Red Devils 2-1 in the first leg.
