Fight For Survival: Galway Boss Is Not Surprised
Richmond Park hosts a Friday night relegation battle tomorrow evening between St. Pats and Galway United.
When the teams last met back in April, they shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw but since then, both sides have struggled to maintain any sort of consistency or form and have found themselves at the foot of the league table.
But for Galway boss Shane Keegan, it's not a surprise that his side find themselves in a relegation dog fight.
"Any of the teams that had finished in the bottom half of the table last season, for any of those to think weren't going to find themselves going through tough times and with their back against the wall, they were grossly mistaken."
It's Keegan's first year in charge of Galway after spending five with Wexford Youths, and even though he and his side expected to be down towards the bottom of the league table, they're still very disappointed.
"We knew it would be like this, that's not to say that we're not disappointed with where we are. We would feel that with our performances, we should have a lot more points on the table than we have."
Coming into Friday's clash with St. Pats, Galway have only won two games all season, while drawing nine and losing nine. Keegan sums it up nicely with:
"We are where we are for a reason."
