Kite Surfer Rescued After A 20 Foot Fall In Dollymount
A man has been rescued from Dollymount Strand.
The kitesurfer got into difficulty after being dropped 20 foot onto the sand dunes at the beach at around 2pm yesterday afternoon.
Dublin Fire Brigade and two units from the Howth Coastguard rushed to the scene and provided advanced life support with both their paramedic and advanced paramedic teams.
The victim was rushed to hospital but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
John Leech from Irish Water Safety has this advice for anyone taking to the water over the weekend.
"First of all, don't panic. pick up your mobile phone ... dial 112, call the coastguard and just explain the situation that you're in or that you see other people in"
"We've got a world class coastguard and lifeboat service and we can have a helicopter or a lifeboat out to you literally in minutes".
