Concerns Over Centenary Commemorations
The Great Grandson of one of the leaders of the 1916 Rising says he's concerned the centenary commemorations are turning into a political football.
The comments from James Connolly Heron - the Great Grandson of James Connolly - come as Fianna Fáil holds it's annual Arbour Hill event today.
Party leader Micheál Martin is expected to criticise the government's preparations to date for the 100th anniversary, as well as Sinn Féin's efforts on it.
However Mr Connolly Heron says the centenary shouldn't be used for political point scoring:
The Mayor of Dublin has also raised concerns about the politicising of the 1916 commemorations.
