Viral: Garda's Kind Gesture For Taylor Swift Fan With Special Needs
Taylor Swift made history over the weekend by becoming the first female to headline two nights at Croke Park. The singer was supported by Charlie XCX and Camila Cabello on both nights of her Reputation Stadium Tour.
One punter, Gavin Coventry, captured a kind act between a Garda and a music fan at the gig. The officer came to the rescue of a boy with special needs who wanted to dance in the standing area during Camila's performance of 'Havana'.
Security wouldn't allow him on the pitch because he didn't have the correct ticket. However, one guard overhead the conversation and decided to make his wish come true.
The Garda offered the boy a lend of his hat and hi-vis vest - so he looked like a member of the force.
Since it was uploaded at the concert, Gavin's video has been viewed on Facebook almost 500,000 times and has thousands of shares.
On Facebook, Gavin wrote:
"There's a little lad with special needs to the front who wanted to move from his seat to the standing area. He couldn't as he didn't have a ticket and he was with his mam. He was determined to and security wouldn't let him. One of the on-duty guards came over and gave his hi-vis body armour and hat to the little fella and brought him out front for about 10 minutes. 10 out of 10 for the boys in blue - once again showing they are always looking after the public."
Speaking to 98FM, Gavin said: "It was amazing to see how a simple act of kindness helped put a smile on a young man's face, and made his day."
