VIDEO: This Barber Cuts The Hair Of The Homeless In Dublin Every Week
A powerful video showcasing the selfless work of a group of Dubliners is gaining traction online.
'Haircuts for the Homeless' sees Hakkan Isik and his team from The Barber Shop at 56 in Clontarf set up outside the GPO every Friday from 8-10pm, where they provide free haircuts to rough sleepers.
The video was made by Ryan O'Hare after witnessing their "amazing community spirit".
Hakkan, who is originally from Turkey and has been living in Ireland for the past 7 years, has been volunteering for the last 14 months alongside members of Newry Helping Homeless People, the Tasnuva Shamim Foundation of Ireland and the Muslim Sisters of Éire who serve hot food, tea and coffee and provide sleeping bags, warm clothes and hygiene kits.
Speaking to 98FM, Ryan said there is also a dentist present who creates moulds and then provides dentures to the homeless free of charge.
"I made this video with the hope of raising awareness of the community spirit and also to reach out to others who may have a service they feel they could provide to help benefit the homeless", he added.
