Almost 50 Injured In Lightning Strikes In France and Germany
Almost fifty people have been injured in lightning strikes in Germany and France this afternoon.
Thirty three people, including twenty nine children, have been taken to hospital after lightning struck a football stadium in Germany. Three people are seriously injured.
The referee of the game in the western town of Hoppstädten was hit directly by the strike and was taken to hospital.
Meanwhile, a lightning strike in Paris has left six people seriously injured, with four people in a life-threatening condition.
A further five people received minor injuries. It's thought they were celebrating a children's party at Parc Monceau in the city's north-west. It happened when the group tried to take shelter under a tree during the sudden storm.
Most of the victims are children aged between seven and 14-years-old.
