The winners will be announced at our exclusive awards ceremony on Tuesday May 23rd at the RDS.
Check this year’s nominees for Best Bar:
The Clonsilla Inn
The Clonsilla Inn is one of the biggest bars in Dublin. Trading since 1970, it houses 5 bars - including a Cocktail Bar, Music Lounge, Gin Bar, Front Bar, Function Room, and a huge beer garden .
A spokesperson for The Clonsilla Inn told 98FM:
“We are over the moon to be part of 98FM’s Best Of Dublin Awards. We are a new evolution of local bar, trying to offer anything the city centre has, but on your door step. We’ve been working very hard to get the pub on the map and are hugely happy that we have made the final. We feel The Clonsilla Inn needs to be recognised. We are all behind this and are really trying our best to win.”
The Old Schoolhouse Bar And Restaurant
The Old School House Bar and Restaurant is a traditional, yet modern Irish pub. With recent refurbishments, they now specialise in locally sourced steak and seafood.
Downstairs in the bar you can sit and enjoy a great pint of Guinness, watch all sporting events on their big screens, take in some live music, enjoy a burger or steak from the bar food menu or simply just sit outside in their year round beer garden.
The Confession Box
The Confession Box, established in 1795 is located in Marlborough Street, Dublin 1 and is one of the smallest pubs in Dublin. For the past seven years it has been run by two of the friendliest landladies, Monica and Pauline.
They told 98FM that it feels:
“People come from near and far to visit this little gem. It is such a privilege to know that our customers have shown how they feel about us. We are really lucky.”
Located in the heart of Tallaght, they re-opened just over a year ago. This is the ideal spot for students and workers in the area, as they offer affordable daily food specials. The Abberly Court is renowned for live bands every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
A spokesperson for The Abberly Court told 98FM:
"We are delighted to be nominated by our customers and very honoured to be part of 98FM’s Best of Dublin. We are extremely happy for all our staff who have worked so hard over the last year to make The Abberley the great venue that it is today."
The Strand Bar
Established in 2004, The Strand Bar in Rush is a family owned bar and restaurant serving great food and drink as well as providing live entertainment every weekend. This bar is focused on customer service, great atmosphere and supporting their local community – not to mention the great food.
When asked how it feels to be a finalist, Owner Joe Sherman says:
“We are delighted to be shortlisted for The Best Bar in 98FM’s Best in Dublin Awards. As a family owned bar and restaurant, being voted for by our customers is a great recognition for the hard work of all the team to serve great food and drink to the locals and visitors to Rush. We are delighted to have the opportunity to put Rush on the map and regardless of the outcome, we are proud to have been shortlisted."
