Watchdog To Investigate Garda Murder
The garda watchdog says it's investigating the murder of a Garda two years ago. Tony Golden was shot dead by Crevan Mackin, who then turned the gun on himself.
On October 11th 2015 Siobhan Philips went to gardai in Omeath Co. Louth to tell them she was being beaten by her partner.
Garda Tony Golden accompanied Siobhan back to the house she shared with Crevan Mackin when garda Golden was shot dead and ms philips was injured.
Now its alledged that some gardai knew that Mackin had access to guns and explosives but he was not charged with posession.
Following a complaint about the murder and shooting, the garda ombudsman is examing the circumstances in the lead up to the tragedy
Siobhan's family is calling for a full public inquiry. Siobhan Phillips' father, Sean, says he wants to meet with the Justice Minister, the Garda Commissioner and DPP.
