Court Hears Convicted Rapist Poses Indefinite Risk To Adult Females
A court has heard a convicted rapist poses an indefinite risk to adults females.
51 year old Paul Moore of Mountjoy Square has been jailed for 18 months after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a woman on the DART.
Paul Moore has been convicted twice for rape and three times for indecent and sexual assault over the past 25 years.
In this case in August 2014 he touched an au pair’s breasts on a southside DART and pulled at her trousers.
The Judge noted there were conflicting opinions on why Moore commits these crimes
One psychiatric report blamed a head injury he received in 1982 while another blamed a “personality disorder.”
The court heard Moore has shown no remorse for his actions, has resisted all efforts to rehabilitate himself and clearly poses an indefinite danger to adult females.
But Judge Melanie Greally said she was sentencing him just for the DART assault and the Justice system doesn’t provide for preventative detention.
He was jailed for 3 years with 18 months suspended and when he gets out he has to keep a 10pm to 8am curfew for ten years. He's also to remain alcohol free in public.
