“I Didn’t See Anything Out Of The Ordinary”
Dublin defender Mick Fitzsimons says he was surprised by the attention the leaked St Brigid’s contract received.
Journalist Ewan MacKenna posted a picture of the document which detailed the level of commitment expected of players representing their club.
Cuala club man Fitzsimons has never been asked to sign a similar contract, but he didn’t feel there were any surprising demands in the Brigids document:
“Playing with any team is a commitment, whether its inter county or club, that was put out on paper and people were shocked about it, there was uproar.
"I didn’t read it fully but a lot of points like people committing and letting managers know when they’re going on holidays and stuff like that is bread and butter stuff.
“It is an amateur game but people enjoy success, people enjoy winning there is a bond that comes from everyone committing to the same cause, I don’t think it’s the death of the GAA.
“A lot of it is probably player led, I’m not surprised (by its content) but it was a pity it got leaked from the club but I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary with it.”
