Irish Models And Presenters To Help Build Orphanage In Africa
Five familiar faces from Ireland's fashion and TV worlds are swapping the heat of the studio lights for hard hats and hi-vis vests.
Siobhan O'Connor, Madeline Mulqueen, Diana Bunici, Theodora Sutra and Irma Mali are travelling to Zamda in Africa to build vital facilities for the country's most impoverished street children.
The group of ladies say they are in "a fight against time to establish the much-needed accommodation before the rainy season starts in six weeks."
They got involved during the 2015 Pride of Ireland Awards, when Teacher of the Year Winner and Zamda Ireland founder Pat Fanning persuaded them to help.
Siobhan O'Connor said "I was so touched by Pat's courageous story and his dream of building this shelter that I really wanted to help. I just knew that we could get the right sort of passionate, highly motivated people on board to raise awareness for his charity and improve the lives of these unfortunate kids."
Madeline Mulqueen said "I've always been keen on going to Africa to volunteer and when I heard Pat's story it simply blew me away."
The girls head off on October 22nd, and tonight they will take to the catwalk to raise money for the project.
The fundraising event is on in 37 Dawson Street, and you can find out more information here.
