Fight For Survival: "It's A Must Not Get Beat"
With just over 24 hours to go until the meeting of St. Pats and Galway United in Richmond Park, 98FM's Darren Cleary caught up with St. Pat's man Pat Cregg.
We've already heard from the Galway boss Shane Keegan on the bottom of the table clash between the sides and he sees it as a must win match. Cregg on the other hand sees it differently:
"It's a must not get beat in my eyes. You want to win the game obviously. Galway are coming to win the game but it would be bad for either team to get turned over."
The St. Pats midfielder points out that "we'll obviously be going to win the game and I'm sure they'll be targeting it."
As it stands, St. Pats are a point ahead of Galway with a game in hand. The Inchicore men have come in for a lot of criticism throughout the season, but Cregg is a firm believer that they'll turn it around and it's the small margins that are killing them in matches.
"It's just small margins in regards conceding at the wrong times. Maybe missing a chance at a key moment but there is enough experience in their, the manager's experience."
"I do believe that we'll turn it around, 100%. If you don't believe that, what's the point in playing?"
Cregg. formerly of teams such as Falkirk, Hibernian, Bury and Shamrock Rovers states that his current club's struggle at the moment is part and parcel of being a footballer.
"Yeah we might be getting a bit of stick at the minute for being down there, but that's part and parcel of it, you got to embrace that pressure and just roll your sleeves up and grind out results."
Kickoff in Richmond Park is at 19:45 on Friday evening.
