Lee Keegan: “The Players Have To Be Held Accountable"
Mayo's Lee Keegan believes Diarmuid Connolly should've known better than to put his hand on an official.
The Dublin forward had his 12 week ban upheld after being found to have interfered with an official.
The incident happened during the Dubs win over Carlow in the Leinster football quarter-final.
Keegan feels players can't be seen to touch an official:
“It’ll be unfortunate not to see Diarmuid in the summer months showcasing his talent and athleticism with Dublin.
“We’ve never had too many instances before, with Evan Comerford and Kieran McGeeney incidents probably didn’t help either.
“It’s more flagged this time than other years before, from a player point of views its having that discipline and know not to do it.
“We all get frustrated at times and give an ‘F’ or a ‘blind’ about a decision we don’t get, we need to be more disciplined.
“The players have to be held accountable, we know what we’re getting ourselves in for if we get a hand(on the officials)".
Mayo's Lee Keegan, Kerry's Donnchadh Walsh, Monaghan's Conor McManus and Bernard Brogan of Dublin were speaking at the launch of SuperValu’s #BehindTheBall campaign at Croke Park.
SuperValu is set to donate 55,000 footballs to clubs across Ireland and deliver volunteer camps throughout the summer.
