Video: Cillian O'Shea Says Club v County Row Won't Distract Dublin U21
Dublin U21 co-captain Cillian O'Shea says reports they refused to line out for their clubs are untrue.
The Boys in Blue attempted to have first round games involving their players deferred as they gear up for the Eirgrid U21 football final against Galway.
That though was unsuccessful, the Kilmacud Crokes man was an unused sub for his team's win over Erin’s Isle, but he says at no point did they refuse to play.
The defender spoke to 98FM's Darren Cleary:
“We asked the county board to defer certain games that involved U21’s players, that was with the support of the county boards.
“The clubs were also eager for that to happen, that request wasn’t granted so we met on Tuesday and decided to make ourselves available.
“Each individual was separate everyone was in different situations as to how much time they needed to play.
“Everyone just sorted that out with their own management, we were available and clubs co-operated with us which we appreciated a lot.”
Dublin U21 footballer & co-captain Cillian O’Shea and Galway U21 footballer & captain Michael Daly met in Croke Park today ahead of the EirGrid GAA Football U21 All-Ireland Final which will take place on Saturday, 29th April at 5pm in O’Connor Park, Tullamore.
