Tommy Bowe Inspired Cuala's Paul Schutte In All-Ireland Fitness Race
Cuala’s Paul Schutte says he took inspiration from Irish rugby star Tommy Bowe, in his bid to be fit for last Friday’s All-Ireland club hurling final.
Dublin defender Schutte missed the All-Ireland semi final win over Slaughtneil at the end of February with a broken finger.
He told 98FM Sport’s Derek Ryan that the injury should have kept him out of action for 12 weeks.
However, within six weeks he was lining out for Cuala in the All-Ireland final, as they beat Clare side Ballea to claim their first ever title.
Schutte says he had the same procedure as Irish international Bowe, who recovered from a broken finger within three weeks while on tour with the Lions in 2013, to feature in their last two games of the successful series:
What a legend that surgeon is!
