It's been confirmed the Leinster back suffered an ankle injury in the weekend's win over the USA.
The 21-year-old went off injured in the game, and a scan has revealed he will miss four weeks of action as a result.
Ireland face Japan this coming Saturday, and again the following Saturday.
No replacement has been called up to the squad.
Ulster’s Paddy Jackson will join the squad this week, having missed the USA game for personal reasons.
