Johnny Sexton: “Results Don’t Show The Improvements We Know We’ve Made"
Johnny Sexton feels Leinster have made massive strides in the last 12 months.
Their Champions Cup involvement ended at the semi-final stage with a loss to Clermont. They’re still in the hunt for domestic silverware.
They’ve already assured of a place in the last four of the Guinness Pro 12.
It stands in marked contrast to last year as Leinster exited European competition at the pool stage of the competition.
They finished top of the table but lost in the final to Connacht.
The out-half reckons they've come on, even if they don't have silverware yet to show for it:
“The results don’t show the improvements we know we’ve made, we don’t need to win something to show that.
“We want to win something because we’re desperate for success but we have come a long way in a year, that’s pretty obvious.”
Johnny Sexton spoke to 98FM’s Darren Cleary at the launch of Leinster Rugby’s summer camps. The out-half began by paying tribute to Mike Ross, who earlier announced his intentions to retire:
