Halawa Supporters Mark Fourth Anniversary Of His Arrest
Family, friends and supporters of Ibrahim Halawa are today marking the fourth anniversary of his imprisonment in Egypt.
They will gather for a protest outside the Egyptian embassy on Clyde Road in Ballsbridge at 1pm.
The 21 year old from Firhouse was arrested as a 17 year old during political unrest in Cairo in 2013.
His long-running mass trial is continuing in Cairo, but it's feared it may not conclude for some months.
Amnesty International says his detention is a violation of Egyptian and international law.
Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney has issued a statement, saying he and the government are determined to see Ibrahim released.
He says he's sending a personal message to Ibrahim, promising the Government's doing everything it can to ensure he can return home as soon as possible.
