Bus Eireann Signs Off On New Budget And Business Plan
After months of in-fighting, Bus Eireann has finally signed off on a budget for 2017, as well as a new business plan. It is hoped the changes will save the company from going bust.
Staff at the transport company went on a strike in March, which lasted for three weeks, in a row over an original cost-saving plan.
After talks, workers agreed to go back to work to allow management get to work on a new plan which would see the company operate more efficiently.
Today, the Board announced it had formally approved a Budget for 2017, along with a new Business Plan. Aidan Murphy, Chairman of Bus Éireann believes it forms "the basis of achieving a sustainable future for Bus Éireann."
"I am now confident that we will continue to build on our past success to provide a sustainable and progressive service for all of our customers, staff and stakeholders into the future", he added.
