Owner Of Shop To Donate Lottery Commission To Pieta House
The owner of the Dublin shop that sold Friday's winning Daily Million ticket has announced he is donating his seller’s commission to Pieta House.
The store will get €5000 for selling the ticket - but the owners think the cash would be better suited to the suicide prevention charity.
Owner Seamus Griffin explained it was an ideal opportunity to donate the money, as a number of Londis outlets had already raised €30,000 as part of a fundraising drive called Climb-For-Joy.
"We were climbing Carrauntoohill in aid of Pieta House with 165 Londis retailers and we got the phone call from the National Lottery on Friday night, to say that we had sold the winning ticket in Westmoreland Street. The retailers commission would be €5000 and we decided that we would donate it."
This amount takes them to €35k and because they're still accepting donations until the end of the week, they're hoping to smash the €40k barrier.
