Film Director Neil Jordan Settles Court Action With Dublin Bus Over Fall
Film director Neil Jordan has settled a High Court action taken against Dublin Bus following a fall he had in the city centre.
Mr Jordan had taken a personal injuries action seeking damages against Dublin Bus following an incident on April 19th 2013. Both the company and the driver denied liability.
Speaking on radio last year, Neil Jordan said he had been crossing Dawson Street with the green pedestrian light when a bus came around the corner and he fell trying to get out of the way. He had been using a walking stick at the time as he had recently undergone knee surgery.
The director, who’s worked on The Crying Game, Michael Collins and Interview with the Vampire, said the fall had left him out of commission for two years. he won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for The Crying Game in 1993.
The case was due before the High Court today and the court was ready to view CCTV footage taken from inside the bus on 11am that morning.
But just before the case was due to open, both sides went into legal talks and a few hours later the Judge was told the matter had been settled.
No details of the settlement were revealed in court. Neil Jordan was in the Four Courts all day while the talks continued but declined to speak to reporters on the way out.
