13 Year Old Girl Held Up On Luas Green Line
An investigation is underway after a 13 year old girl was robbed on the LUAS. It is understood the teen was held up at knifepoint by a couple just over a week ago.
Gardai have confirmed that a teenager was mugged on the LUAS green line near Brides Glen on Wenesday the 12th of April at around 7:30 in the evening.
The 13 year old's phone was taken when it's understood she was threatened by a couple with a knife. The man and woman then got off the LUAS and fled the area.
Chair of Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown Council - Cormac Devlin - says it was a frightening experience "it is very worrying that it happened so early in the evening, and also to such a young child".
"It's left many parents worried about their children travelling on public transport", he said.
Gardai at Shankill are investigating the incident which has led to calls for increased security on the trams.
The operators of the Luas - Transdev - says it’s handed over the relative CCTV footage to the gardai and is helping them with their inquiries.
