New National Maternity Hospital Project Is Stalled
The planned development of a new National Maternity Hospital at Vincent's Hospital has been put on hold.
It's due to concerns over the 150 million euro project.
The relocation of the National Maternity Hospital from its outdated premises in Holles Street to St. Vincents in Merrion is a key project for the government.
However St. Vincents Healthcare Group has suspended its involvement in the development due to a number of concerns.
Vincents wants assurances on how the facility will be governed and managed once its competed.
It also wants to be involved in the construction phase so that its existing operations won't be adversely affected by the build.
Health Minister Leo Varadkar has said that the issues raised are significant but not insurmountable.
