Dublin Hosts Europe's First 'Emoji Spelling Bee'
The Black Sheep on Capel Street will host Europe's first ever Emoji Spelling Bee next week.
It's described as "a tournament-style translation competition is which contestants must propose emoji versions of popular phrases, people, places or concepts."
Contestants will be given an English prompt that they have to "spell" using emoticons. For instance:
Contestants will be judged on their accuracy and ability to get the meaning across with just a few emojis.
The idea first came about at South By South West in Texas
Organiser Keith Broni says the Bee will "celebrate the pleasure and creativity that emoji can bring to the fore.”
It takes place next Tuesday the 21st of March at 7pm in The Black Sheep. Tickets are available here.
