Woman Pleads Not Guilty to Boyfriend's Murder in Phibsboro
A court’s heard a woman accused of murdering her boyfriend was highly distressed and frantic on the night of the alleged killing.
46 year old Norma Philips of Phibsboro Road in Phibsboro, but originally from Zimbabwe, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Stefan Neanu.
The court heard on the night of April the 11th 2015, emergency crews were alerted to a stabbing at an apartment on the Phibsboro Road.
A paramedic told the court when they arrived at the scene a woman was looking through the blinds but wouldn’t let them in for a few minutes.
Gardai then arrived and the woman, who’s the accused Norma Philips, eventually opened the door and said ‘‘ambulance only’’ , ‘’no guards’.
36 year old Stefan Neanu who is originally from Romania was found in a bedroom at the back of the apartment with a large cut to his chin and a small cut to his chest.
The room was badly lit - the court heard - with just a red lightbulb
A blood stained knife was later found on the stairs.
Gardai told the court Norma Phillips was highly distressed, seemed intoxicated and was reluctant to give her name.
She told officers a man had called to the apartment , stabbed her boyfriend before running off.
The Prosecution said it would be alleged Ms Philips later told officers that she acted in self-defence.
