Twitter And Unicef Talk With Teens About Staying Safe Online
Twitter has invited 50 teenagers to its Dublin headquarters to discuss ways to stay safe on social media.
They're looking at the challenges and opportunities of growing up in a digital age, at an event organised by Unicef.
Social media superstar James Kavanagh works with UNICEF to promote child rights “I am all about digital activism. People should use their social media platforms to speak out about things that matter to them. I feel very strongly that that is the responsibility of the digital influencer. Everybody has a voice. Don’t be afraid to speak up."
Sinead McSweeney, Managing Director of Twitter Ireland, said the company is "committed to helping students engage with an increasingly diverse online environment, while empowering them to use digital platforms when they feel compelled to speak out on issues they’re passionate about.
Executive Director of UNICEF Ireland, Peter Power said today was all about "involving young people... because we believe they should be given every opportunity to influence their own futures.”
