Today Is Special Olympics Ireland Collection Day
Thousands of volunteers are out in force today to raise vital finds for Special Olympics Ireland. The sports organisation for people with an intellectual disability is hoping to raise €600,000 in funding.
More than 8,500 athletes benefit from the sports training programmes and competitions provided by the charity throughout the country every day. While, 1,600 athletes will compete in the Special Olympics Ireland Games from June 14th to 17th in Dublin.
Over 3,000 volunteers will be shaking buckets across the country and in Dublin today in places like Grafton Street and Henry Street, Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, Dundrum Town Centre and Pavilions Shopping Centre in Swords.
