People On Higher Wages Could Pay Higher Speeding Fines
The Road Safety Authority is seriously considering linking speed fines to a motorist's salary.
It's hoped tougher penalties could reduce the number of people driving too fast.
It means someone earning an annual wage of €50,000 could be hit with a fine worth €1000.
Road Safety chiefs have confirmed to the Irish Independent that they may formally put the proposal to Transport Minister Shane Ross.
