McGregor Eyes Up UFC Return
August 26th against Floyd Mayweather should really be the only thing on Conor McGregor's mind at the moment. The Dubliner is taking on a boxer who has never been beaten in boxing in Las Vegas.
But it appears "The Notorious" has some grand plans for his return to MMA.
Earlier this week, McGregor's coach announced that Conor has been talking to him about a UFC return and that, “he has said very clearly to me, 'get ready, we’re back in the cage for December."
Kavanagh told the MMA Hour that "I just hope somebody out there has sparked the interest in him to get excited about that.”
It seems that there is the interest as UFC President Dana White elaborated on Coach Kavanagh's claims.
“You know what Conor told me? He said, ‘I want Khabib in Russia.'"
"Isn’t he (expletive) awesome? He’s like, ‘I want Khabib, in Russia.’ He’s awesome. Conor McGregor is a (expletive) unicorn. There’s nothing like him. He’s working on boxing Floyd Mayweather and then he’s talking about fighting Khabib in Russia right after.”
So the two-weight UFC champion is looking to take on Khabib Nurmagomedov in Nurmagomedov’s native Russia after the Mayweather bout in August.
It remains to be seen whether or not the fight night will go ahead, but Dana White is full of admiration for McGregor.
"How do you not love him? How do you not love Conor McGregor? Amazing.”
