Man Shot Dead In North Inner City
A man in his 50s has been shot dead in the North Inner City.
Gardai say the attack happened at Poplar Row on North Strand at about 7:45PM. It's believed the victim is Eddie Hutch, a brother of Gerry "The Monk" Hutch.
It's understood the shooting may be linked to last Friday's attack at The Regency Hotel, where 33-year-old David Byrne was murdered.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the Poplar Row area or may have information, to contact them at Fitzgibbon Garda Station on 01 666 8400, the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111 or any Garda Station.
The Justice Minister has condemned tonight's fatal shooting, while the Sinn Féin Leader Gerry Adams has also commented on the killing.
He said it "has brought further fear and intimidation to the streets of our capital. Those behind this latest shooting, and those behind the dreadful attack last Friday at the Regency Hotel, must be apprehended and taken off our Streets."
"The Gardaí need the fullest possible support from the community in their efforts to do this", he added.
