Islamic State Claims A 'Fighter' Carried Out Paris Attack
France is on high alert just two days before its presidential election after last night's fatal shooting in Paris.
Islamic State claims its behind the attack on the Champs Elysees which killed a police officer and injured 2 others. A tourist was also hurt.
At around 8pm Irish time a car pulled up alongside a police bus.
A man got out with what's believed to have been a kalashnikov and opened fire. He was then shot dead by security forces.
He's believed to be a 39 year old French citizen. Karim Cheurfi had been previously convicted of attempted murder in 2003 after a shooting incident against police.
A second suspect has handed himself in to a police station in Antwerp, Belgium.
