Ireland To Get Massive New Holiday Resort
It's expected a new holiday village in county Longford - creating over a thousand new jobs - will open in 2019.
An Bord Pleanála has given the green light for Center Parcs to create The Longford Forest Village - a 230 million euro project.
It will include more than 400 lodges near Ballymahon and will have room for 2-and-a-half-thousand guests. There will also be treehouses, a spa, restaurants and a sub tropical pool area with water slides.
The main attraction of Center Parcs' resorts across the UK are a heated glass-house style swimming pool with water slides and lazy rivers.
Independent Councillor with Longford County Council Gerry Warnock says the development will provide a welcome boost to the entire midlands region.
"According to Center Parcs, they're target for opening in summer 2019. The midlands have really locked out in terms of tourism, so this could be just what we need", he explained.
