Sick Tourist Pens Letter Of Thanks To "Wonderful" Dubliners
An English man who fell ill while visiting Dublin has written a letter to the people of Dublin who he says are the "most friendly and thoughtful people I have ever met".
Mark from Lancashire collapsed on Leeson Street in September, after becoming disorientated and leaving his partner alone in a restaurant. He was rushed to hospital, leaving the people of Dublin and the emergency services to help his partner find him.
In a letter sent to the Lord Mayor, Mark explained that he has tried to find "the person who made the phone call to the ambulance", but hasn't been able to.
"I would like to thank everyone in Dublin who attended to me, and helped my partner in the awful days after the accident", the letter continued.
Mark thanked the Ambulance Service, St. James' Hospital and Beaumont Hospital, where he had an operation for a bleed on his brain. He also thanked The Central Hotel on Talbot Street, who allowed his partner stay a night for free.
Dublin's Lord Mayor, Mícheál Mac Donncha, has shared the hand-written letter on Twitter, while Dublin Fire Brigade have thanked Mark for writing it.
DFB explained that a fire engine from C Watch in Donnybrook responded alongside its Rathfarnham based ambulance.
