Housing Activists Leave Ballybough Property Following Court Order
Housing activists have left the empty house they were occupying in the north inner city this morning.
The group took over the house last week to highlight government inaction on the homeless crisis.
It's ten days since the sit-in began at 35 Summerhill Parade.
The High Court yesterday granted the owner an injunction against the occupation of the property and six other adjoining buildings.
Lawyers for the owner told the court that an anonymous email was sent to him warning him to drop the case or there would be ‘hell to pay for him, his business and his family’.
The court also heard that attempts to get the demonstrators to leave have failed and those involved have refused to identify themselves.
They have now been ordered to leave the property by 8am this morning.
Outside the court yesterday protesters wore Leo Varadkar masks, and vowed to show solidarity with the occupiers.
