Foxrock Schoolboy Avoids Jail Over Drug Deal Assault
A schoolboy from Foxrock has avoided jail after admitting to a vicious assault over a 50 euro cannabis deal
The 17 year old, who can’t be named, fractured another teenager’s skull with a hammer.
The court heard two groups of teenage boys arranged to meet in Blackrock last year in relation to a dispute over a 50 euro cannabis deal. The accused brought his dad’s hammer to the meeting and struck one of the teenagers – a fourth year student – over the head with it.
The victim was rushed to hospital with a fractured skull and bleeding to the brain. The accused’s dad said his son had gotten involved in a culture of drinking and drugs while in school.
The Judge imposed a 3 and a half year sentence but suspended it all warning the accused that he couldn’t expect much mercy if he re-offended.
He told the teenager ‘you are getting one chance and it’s your last chance’.
