'Singing Protest' Held Outside Dáil Against Homelessness
A year after the Home Sweet Home Apollo House takeover, musicians, artists and homeless groups are getting together again.
#MyNameIs and Inner City Helping Homeless are holding a singing protest outside Leinster House today and are calling for the public to take part.
Amongst the campaigners are Peter McVerry, Erica Fleming, Frances Black and Glen Hansard.
It comes as The National Homelss And Housing Coalition announces a country-wide day of action.
They want people to come out in force to voice their anger at the rising number of families who are still without a permanent home this Christmas.
There will be a national day of action on homelessness on Saturday April 7th which will see wide scale protests to highlight the crisis.
The national Homeless and Housing coalition - which includes several campaign groups and charities - is also calling on the government to introduce a new housing policy based on bringing vacant sites and properties into use.
