All Ireland Final Will Not Be Shown On Big Screen In Smithfield
Dublin City Council has confirmed it will not be showing this Sunday's All Ireland football final on a big screen in Smithfield.
The event had been in doubt because of the €40,000 cost of putting it on, and poor turnout from bad weather for the last two years.
However in a statement this evening, those in charge say a big event in Smithfield this Saturday, coupled with potential celebrations the day after wouldn't be fair on local residents.
"To organise three large events in a row, with separate build and take down requirements, is considered an unfair imposition on residents in the area", a statement read.
Dublin City Council said it wants to "apologise for any confusion that may have arisen and wish the Dubs all the best".
Dublin will take on Mayo at Croke Park this Sunday from 3:30pm, where Dublin will be hoping to bag their third win a row.
